ABSTRACT
The incidence of child labour is one of the largest problems facing the entire world, especially growing nations like India. The financial demands of the parents usually necessitate the employment of children. Widespread underemployment and unemployment among the adult underemployed strata of society are the main reasons of child labour, together with the rapid population growth. A few of the reasons that lead to child labour include large households with low finances, a lack of educational resources, illiteracy, and parental ignorance about the importance of education and the effects of employment on their children’s health. Yet as time went on, people worldwide started to realise how serious the problem was.
Similar promises were made in the Indian Constitution, which prioritized social welfare over economic concerns. In order to address the issue of child labour and provide us insights into it as well as ideas for how to handle it, the Government of India has established a number of committees and commissions. When it comes to child labour and child development, modern governments must have sane and comprehensive policies.
