ABSTRACT
The legislature, executive, and judiciary are the three branches of government, and the principle of separation of powers accentuates their reciprocal exclusivity. The fundamental notion is that each of these organs need to perform only one kind of function. The doctrine was brought into existence to prevent any one branch from amassing excessive authority.
