ABSTRACT
The concept of marriage is a very old-age concept which is prevailed in our society for a very long time. Marriage is an oath of vows before God, it provides that a marriage is more than an intimate connection, it’s a mental and emotional association but also a moral and legal commitment, it’s a set of unconditional commitments between the husband and wife. Nonetheless, it is considered a very sacred institution but over time, crimes started to happen against this institution which goes on increasing day by day. To curb this situation and punish the offender, Chapter XX under the IPC was formulated.
