ABSTRACT

One of the biggest issues facing the entire world, especially emerging nations like India, is the prevalence of child labour. Child employment is frequently required by the parents’ financial obligations. The primary causes of child labor, including the rapid population expansion, are widespread underemployment and unemployment among the adult impoverished strata of society. Large families with low incomes and a lack of educational resources, illiteracy, and parental ignorance of the value of education and the effects of work on their children’s health are a few of the factors that contribute to child labour. But as time has gone on, a global awareness of the severity of the issue has emerged.

The Indian Constitution likewise vowed to safeguard and advance social welfare over economic concerns. As a result, the Government of India has created a number of committees and commissions, either particularly to address the issue of child labour and provide us with insights into it as well as recommendations for how to address it. Modern governments must have sensible and all-encompassing policies when it comes to child labour and child development.
