In sociology, a “partner” typically refers to someone in a socially recognized relationship, often a marriage or a close, intimate relationship, which can involve emotional, social, and sometimes legal ties.

INTRODUCTION

The Partner Violence is a complicated issue that affects millions of people in whole world. It refers to physical, sexual, or psychological violence which experienced during an intimate relationship. It is in one of the most common forms of Violence against women and it includes physical, Mental and emotional abuse and controlling behavior by partner. It refers to any form of physical, sexual, emotional or psychological abuse that happens between two persons which are in a close and romantic relationship. This violence can be occurred by husbands against wives, or between boyfriends and girlfriends, fiances, or live-in partners.

As per WHO report of year-2021, about 26% of women have experienced physical or sexual abuse at least once in their lives by the current or past male partners. The Partner violence is a worldwide problem, in each four women one women to be faced it sometime in their lives.

In India, Partner violence is also very common. Various factors contribute to this problem, including cultural, socioeconomic, and educational influences. It is an important public health issue in India. According to the National Family Health Survey-5, about 29.3% of married women between the ages of 18 and 49 have experienced domestic violence at least once. But these victims rarely ask for assistance. As per research, India has low levels of Partner Violence reporting.
